Beck’s cognitive model of depression focuses on people’s negative views about the world, the future, and the self. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a type of therapy which focuses on how the client's attitudes and beliefs contribute to stress and depression. This type of therapy is commonly carried out by psychologists, psychiatrists, advanced practice nurses (clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners), and counselors with specific training in psychotherapy.
