A. If a grounding means exists in the box, a grounding-type receptacle is required.
B. If a grounding means does not exist in the box, a nongrounding-type receptacle is
generally permitted.
C. A GFCI-type receptacle is permitted to replace a nongrounding-type receptacle even
though there is not an equipment grounding conductor in the box.
D. An equipment grounding conductor is permitted to be installed from the GFCI
receptacle to grounding-type receptacles on the load side.
