Describe the purpose of security management policies.
What will be an ideal response?
Good security management starts with the creation of a coherent set of policies. The purpose of those policies is to define the basic mode of operation for a given network, in order to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information that flows across it. The list of policies can be long, and will vary based on situations unique to an organization, but a generic set of policies should cover the areas described in the following sections. Because they guide use and establish general accountability, the policies that define the rules for how the network should be used are perhaps the most far-reaching of the general policies for security.
