What is meant by the term compromise?

What will be an ideal response?

In a zero-sum negotiation, such as a division of marital property, the larger the one party’s slice, the small the other party’s will be. In an area of child custody and visitation, there is not fixed “pie,”, so solutions can be much more far-ranging. All of these decisions may require a quid pro quo, or an exchange of something one party controls for something more important. No compromise will completely satisfy both parties, but if they have prioritized their interests, both can feel comfortable with the outcome.
