Explain how men seem to engage in extreme sexual behaviors more than women.

What will be an ideal response?

Researchers have long known that men display a broader range of extreme sexual behaviors, as well as paraphilias, than do women. Another large analysis of many studies also found a fairly strong relationship between sensation-seeking as a personality factor and sexual risk taking in heterosexual men and women.
For one thing, there are powerful social controls to keep their sexual behavior within the mainstream. For another, women may be more punished, and even brutalized, if they stray too far from the sexual norm, at least in some sexual cultures. Some researchers theorize that women do have extreme sexual feelings but may not express them or try to hide them. Online solicitation for partners to engage in bareback sex appears to be causing an increase in this form of sexual risk-taking. Its incidence among younger gay men suggests that they are either unaware of the risk or disregard it in the passion of sex, as if they were unable to control their own sexual expressions. Women, by contrast, generally exercise more restraint in sexual expression, although there are women who go to extremes in their sexual behavior.
