Explain the difference between trial and appellate courts
What will be an ideal response?
• Trial courts, or courts of original jurisdiction, are primarily concerned with questions of fact. Trial courts are designed to determine exactly what events occurred that are relevant to questions of the defendant's guilt or innocence.
• Appellate courts act as reviewing courts. Appellate courts are concerned with questions of law. They do not determine a defendant's guilt or innocence, rather the court makes judgments on questions of criminal procedure.
