In addition to CDs and an MP3 player, most parents will probably have an extensive vinyl record collection. Unfortunately, the majority of these collections are sitting collecting dust as the convenience and portability of CD and MP3 players has made vinyl records and turntables obsolete. An interesting extension to this exercise could include aggregating the data from the entire class and creating a table detailing number of CDs, MP3 players, vinyl records, and turntables.
