Explain the difference between hedges and tag questions
What will be an ideal response?
Hedges and tag questions are both types of powerless speech mannerisms that deflate
the strength of a message. Hedges include phrases that make a person's statements less
specific and more confusing. Examples of hedge phrases include "I think," "kinda," and "I
guess." Tag questions degrade a person's ability to speak confidently by tacking questions onto
the end of statements, making the speaker appear wishywashy. Examples include "right?"
"isn't it?" and "shouldn't we?"
