Do you believe that affirmative action will decrease social inequality, consequently lowering the overall crime rate?
What will be an ideal response?
Possible answer: According to a Marxist approach, affirmative action only offers the working class enough to be placated without truly gaining momentum in society. Thus, it may appear that social inequality may be reduced, but, in actuality, it is not. For conflict theorists, the only way to make true change is to mitigate all of the inequities in society (e.g., not solely in the workplace). The working class, as a whole, needs to gain political power in order to operate at this level. There are many different restrictions on gaining true power that affirmative action alone will not serve to abate.
