Discuss abuse of inhalants

What will be an ideal response?

Inhalants are commonly abused by young people because they are readily available in homes and they do provide a high. Young people will inhale a variety of household chemicals to get high, including hair spray, gasoline, lighter fluid, helium from balloons, canned air, correction fluid, nail polish remover, insecticide, to name just a few. Generally, the chemical is sprayed into a bag and inhaled from the bag. The high that the user obtains comes from being deprived of oxygen. In most cases, if inhalant use is not chronic, there is little danger to the user. Extended use of inhalants can result in brain and other organ damage. Perhaps the greatest danger arises because the user often has little control over how much substance is taken into the body, unlike pills or alcohol, which give the user some measure of control, this is what most frequently results in accidental overdose.
