Your teacher told you that “the House always wins” regarding the rate of winners in casino, so that the casino doesn’t lose money. You know that the casino’s money is protected by a computer program. Explain, if possible, if you are able to create a program to counteract the casino’s program, so that more patrons are able to win.

What will be an ideal response?

Varies; answers should focus on probability. Casinos generate a program so that every 100th person wins; therefore, it looks as though people have better odds than they actually do. To create a program to counteract the casino’s program, you would need to understand the probability in which people are winning and then create a program that disrupts that probability.
