What is “normal environmentalism,” how could it be brought into practice, and why is it likely to be both popular and effective? Explain using a form of normal environmentalism that already exists.
What will be an ideal response?
Normal environmentalism is the kind of environmentalism that you
don’t have to worry about because you just find yourself doing it anyway. It is
likely to be popular and effective because it has little burden for the participants.
A well-designed city is an example of normal environmentalism. In such
environment, people will avoid driving not because they want to be green, but
because it is more convenient to do so, and people thus will have lower ecological
footprint by design, not by intentional effort.
