Give three examples of how to support literacy for young children in the classroom.

What will be an ideal response?

The teacher should make sure that a classroom has an extensive library of high-quality, age-appropriate children's books. These books should cover a variety of topics, thereby making them useful to support different types of activities. When teaching children about a topic, such as baseball, the material should be presented in a variety of text types. For example, children could read books, newspaper articles, and Internet sites about baseball. In addition, to learn a story thoroughly, children should be exposed to it in different ways. For example, two or three versions of Goldilocks and the three bears could be read. Then children could do a dramatization or puppet play about the story.
