Describe a method of flexible grouping, and describe its advantages.

What will be an ideal response?

The answers should describe cross-grade grouping and/or nongraded plans, and recognize that it tends to have positive effects on achievement, especially for lower achieving students, that it reduces heterogeneity of skills among students, letting teachers more readily tailor instructional materials and pace to meet the needs of students. There are some nonacademic benefits as well such as increased liking of school.
