How can couples help ensure great marriages and great sex?

What will be an ideal response?

Researchers have sought to determine how sexual scripts influence marital relationship
and sexual satisfaction. Sociologist Susan Sprecher found that among women, increased relationship satisfaction leads to increased sexual satisfaction, and among men, increased sexual satisfaction leads to increased relationship satisfaction. Sprecher attributed her findings to the fact that women's sex scripts socialize them to enjoy sex only in committed, fulfilling relationships, while men's sex scripts socialize them to be motivated by sex.

In a rare study that sought to determine sexual and relationship satisfaction of married couples in mainland China, researchers found that Chinese men and women are moderately satisfied with their marital sexual relationships. The more affection and sexual behavior in the relationship, the greater the sexual and marital relationship satisfaction. These conclusions are consistent with United States and Canadian research where husbands' and wives' ratings of sexual satisfaction are associated with increased marital relationship satisfaction.

So, what makes great marital lives and great sex lives? Perhaps Hunt sums it up best:
"The husband and wife who have a free and intensely pleasurable sexual relationship are much more likely to be emotionally close than the husband and wife who do not, and the close marriage is more likely to involve a genuinely liberated marital sex than the distant one."
