Answers will vary. Same-sex marriage is a legally recognized marriage between two people of the same biological sex and/or gender identity.In 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling (Obergefell v. Hodges) granting same-sex couples a constitutional right to marry. The 5-4 decision gave married gay couples nationwide the same legal rights and benefits as married heterosexual couples. With the Supreme Court's decision, the United States joined 21 other countries (so far) that allow same-sex marriage.
