If your students understand the relationships between technology and society and technology and economics, they will know that devising remedial technologies can improve a negative situation, but it will never totally resolve the situation. The norms of human behavior and the existing economic incentives must be adjusted to ameliorate oncoming economic crises to keep our environment operational.
