The female pelvis is wider and shallower than the male pelvis. The female sacrum tends to be wider and shorter with the coccyx situated more posteriorly. The pelvic inlet is usually wider and oval; the pelvic outlet is also wider. The female acetabula are generally farther apart and pointed more anteriorly while the pubic arch tends to have an angle between 90° and 100°. Last, the female ischial tuberosities tend to point laterally.
