A variety of examples were included in this chapter of individual and social behaviors, and even programs, that reflect each of the four perspectives on community life. Discuss some additional examples of these four perspectives.
What will be an ideal response?
Some additional examples include the following:
• Spatial relations – All interactions that are influenced by physical distance (to other residences, schools, parks, community centers, social service agencies)
• Conflict – This theme may be reflected in tensions that exist among different departments in a job setting, wards of a city that are in competition for public money, universities competing for state dollars, and mental health systems competing for state money.
• Social system – This is evident in positive reciprocal relationships in formal and informal organizations where complimentary roles are adhered to, such as schools, places of employment, social groups, and neighborhood associations.
• Social bond – Such strong connection may exist in any groups focused on strongly felt common interests, spiritual organizations (formal and informal), gangs, and highly interactive neighborhoods.
