Describe the methods used by premium tire pressure monitoring systems to determine tire location.

By entering training mode and then, following the specified order of tire location, placing a magnet around the tire's valve stem. As each location is learned, the ID is locked to that position. The use a transponder located behind the wheel splash shields at three locations. Tire position is relearned each time the vehicle is in motion and all four TPSs send periodic signals to the receiving module. The receiving module then sends a signal to one of the transponders. This causes the transponder to emit a 125-kHz signal in the area surrounding the wheel. This signal will excite the TPS at that location. Under this condition, the TPS will send a constant signal to the receiving module. The receiving module will then identify the TPS and its location. This procedure is repeated for the other two transponder locations.Locating the tire pressure monitor module in a specific location. The TPS broadcasts their pressures as described, but also broadcasts the direction of rotation. The module determines tire location by the strength of the signal from the TPS and its rotation direction.Use the antilock brake systems (ABS) wheel speed sensors to monitor the number of revolutions per mile of the tires. As the tire pressure drops, the diameter of the tire effectively becomes smaller. This results in more revolutions per mile. When compared to the other wheel speed sensors, the system determines a low tire when it sees a wheel speed sensor reading that is higher than the others. Since the ABS system identifies the location of the wheel speed sensors, that data is used to identify the location of the low tire.
