What are the various challenges faced by teachers when traditional classrooms transform into digital ones?
What will be an ideal response?
Although teachers look forward to new ways of teaching students, they face many challenges imagining how the traditional classroom is becoming transformed to reflect the high-tech world around. As exciting the new technologies are, they are tools for learning and teaching, not the end in itself.
?
In the flat classroom, the traditional hierarchy is broken down. Many students can find information as quickly as teachers can and that means teachers' roles must change accordingly. Teachers should take full advantage of the ways technology can promote independent learning through real-world projects, simulations, and collaborative investigations. At the same time, teachers have to guide students in negotiating the overload of information so that they use their time wisely and focus on greater depth than may be possible from causal surfing of websites.
?
Teachers should make sure that students gain the technological fluency they will need in later life. To do so, teachers need to meet their own high standards for understanding technology and its uses in education. Further, teachers need to seek ways to use technology to level the learning field, so that all of the students are served equitably by their schools.
