Describe the three types of neurons found in the body and indicate their functions.

What will be an ideal response?

1. Sensory (afferent) neurons are responsible for detecting stimuli and relaying the information to the central nervous system.
2. Motor (efferent) neurons are responsible for conducting the nerve impulse from the brain or spinal cord to the structure that will respond to the stimuli (effector).
3. Interneurons lie within the CNS.  These are responsible for conveying the nerve impulse between various parts of the CNS.
