What is reinforcement? How is this different from punishment? Give an example of how reinforcement can be used.

What will be an ideal response?

Reinforcement is a reward or “positive” given to a client after they complete a targeted behavior. The reinforce may be something as simple as “good-job,” “I’m proud of you,” or “at-a-boy.” For example, a client talks about a difficult topic in group for the 1st time. If this behavior is acknowledged, and reinforced, there is a greater likelihood it will continue.
