Describe the Imitations of each of the single-case research designs discussed in Chapter 13.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: A-B-A and A-B-A-B Designs: Some variables do not reverse with the removal of treatment but that is how effectiveness is judged, A-B-A ends with the baseline, and carry-over effects are possible.
Multiple-Baseline Design: To be effective, and behaviors and participants have to be independent not interdependent.
Changing-Criterion Design: Baseline phase should be longer than treatment if treatment phases are the same length, treatment phases need to be long enough to see changes, the amount of change needed for the criterion should be large enough to be detected, and only 2–4 criterion changes should be used.
