Describe the three major responses that religions have made to the issue of homosexuality.

What will be an ideal response?

The three major responses that religions have regarding homosexuality are: rejection, love the sinner but hate the sin, and full acceptance.
According to the rejectionist position, any sexual acts between persons of the same gender are opposed and those performing such acts are considered dreadful sinners. Rejectionists tend to rely on a literal reading of the Bible. The Judeo-Christian tradition is an example of this view.
Love the sinner but hate the sin: This stance regards a person's homosexual orientation as morally neutral but rejects homosexual behaviors. Thus, an ethical homosexual person may be fully obedient to the will of God, as long as she or he remains abstinent.
Full acceptance: This is based on a revisionist view of the Bible and church tradition. Some scholars argue that the apparent condemnation in the scriptures is not relevant to homosexuality as we understand it.
