How is illuminance measured?
What will be an ideal response?
?Illuminance is the total amount of visible light incident upon a point on a surface from all directions above the surface. It is a measure of light intensity striking a surface. One lumen of luminous flux uniformly imposed on one square foot of area results in an illuminance of one footcandle. The level of illuminance is commonly measured with a luminance meter, often referred to as a light meter. It has a photoelectric panel connected to a microammeter and electronic control circuitry and is calibrated to read in footcandles or lux. Some types have a remote sensor. The meter is held so the photoelectric panel is parallel to the plane of the area being tested.
