The three levels of management are executive, middle, and first-line. The executive level is at the top of the management hierarchy. This type of manager is often responsible for the organization as a whole. The middle level of management receives the broad strategies from executives and translates them into programs. The emphasis of the middle manager is actually implementing the broad organizational plans. The first-line manager is directly responsible for the details and activities of the subordinates. This level is the link between managers and non-managers. All three levels perform all the different types of management functions—although on a different scope. The real difference between these levels lies in the decision making that is required of the managers on those levels.
