Provide an example of how egocentrism, centration, and appearance as reality might affect the actions or thoughts of a child

What will be an ideal response?

An egocentric child would see the world only through his eyes. Thus, if Child-A is talking to Child-B on the phone and tells him about the cool new puppy that he is looking at, he would expect Child-B to know exactly what the dog looks like because Child-A is looking at it. Centration involves a narrow focus of thought. For example, a child may be upset that her brother got two sandwiches and she only got one when in fact they are the same with only one of them cut in half. The idea of appearance as reality is based on the idea that what you see is what you get. For example, if you show a child a glass of water and put a drop of red food coloring in it, he will easily believe that the glass now contained cherry juice.
