What are the general requirements a security infrastructure must satisfy?
What will be an ideal response?
In general, a security infrastructure must satisfy the following requirements:
Well-defined entry points. The entry points into the security infrastructure must be convenient, uniform, or even standardized. Like a standard power socket in a wall, the entry points of security infrastructure must contain well-defined interfaces such as TCP/IP sockets, PKCS, XML SOAP, and so on. Furthermore, data formats must be standardized, where appropriate, to enable interoperability.
Predictable security. As a result of using the infrastructure, the added security must be useful and predictable.
User transparency. When an entity such as an application is tapped into the security infrastructure, the security provided must be almost totally transparent to the entity. How security is added to data and communication should be a "black box" to the users.
