How did Spanish conquest and colonization affect the peoples of the Americas?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: In the Americas, there was a newly created hierarchy from the Spanish conquest; at the top, there were the creoles, the children who were born in the New World from Spanish men and women, and at the bottom were the mestizos, the children of Spanish men and Indian women. The mestizos were often lumped together with the Indians. In addition, the Spanish conquest lead the Spanish explorers to strip the Indians of their leaders, religion, and were forced to work for the Spanish. Also, the spread of European disease decreased the number of Indians in the Americas.
