Define the three domains employed by researchers in their study of development. For each
domain provide an example from two different periods of child development.

Physical Domain: changes in size, shape, and characteristics of the body. Also included are changes in
how individuals sense and perceive the physical world. Example: Puberty.
Cognitive Domain: changes in thinking, memory, problem-solving, and other intellectual skills.
Example: Language; learning to read.
Socioemotional Domain: changes in relationships of the individual to the self and to others. Example:
social skills; peer relationships.
