• The Mashriq includes Egypt, Sudan, and the other countries in the eastern Arab world that are east of Egypt and north of the Arabian Peninsula—see question #1 above.
• Andalusia is the area where the Arab, Islamic empire extended north into Europe from 711 until the Spanish Inquisition in 1515. "[A] diverse civilization developed in Andalusia, anchored by court centers in Granada, Córdoba, and Seville that boasted a rich artistic life."
