What beliefs did Friedrich Nietzche espouse? Whom did he influence?

What will be an ideal response?

Answers will vary. Nietzche was above all a contrarian to his age; he lashed out against everything his society valued, from liberal democracy to German nationalism from anti-Semitism to and traditional moral standards, what he called the "slave morality" of Christianity. He was a proponent of radical freedom, famously declared "God is dead," and valued the will and human passion above calculated reason and received morality. Because of his often meandering prose, his ideas were widely open to interpretation and were espoused by Nazis in their application of his concept of the superman as the Aryan ideal.
