Natural gas is a good alternative to other fossil fuels such as coal and oil. Switching to natural gas, though, has its own set of problems. What do you see as the largest problem of using natural gas? Explain.
What will be an ideal response?
Two possible answers seem most appropriate. First, the countries with the largest deposits of natural gas include countries that have either been unstable or unfriendly to Europe and the United States. This sets up the same kind of dynamic that exists with OPEC. Second, the need to liquefy the gas in order to ship it long distances makes the gas expensive and vulnerable to acts of sabotage.
