Discuss the two major criticisms of the problem-oriented policing approach.
What will be an ideal response?
The first criticism of the problem-oriented policing approach is that this is not a new theory, the police have always tried to identify and solve problems. They may have been met with various degrees of success, but it is not from a lack of trying. Second, most significant social problems, that is, poverty, are beyond the control of the police. Thus, creating lasting solutions to these problems is largely not possible, or at least not possible for the police.
