Why is it difficult to know if we are out of the Pleistocene or merely in an interglacial period?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: There were several interglacial periods of several thousand years each during the Pleistocene. In that we haven't experienced as much time as an interglacial period since the ice sheets last melted, it is difficult to know whether or not we have emerged from the Pleistocene until we have a more exact knowledge of the cause(s).
