Explain how water-soluble vitamins are processed in the body

What will be an ideal response?

Water-soluble vitamins in foods are usually attached to proteins and require hydrolysis during digestion to free the vitamin for absorption. Once digestion has released the vitamins, they pass through the small intestine by passive diffusion when the diet contains large amounts, and by active transport when intakes are low. The absorbed vitamins are then transported through the portal vein to the liver.
