Explain what is meant by rising rate and list the advantages of this type of suspension system.
What will be an ideal response?
Rising rate means that the shock is moved further and further as the swingarm is compressed. The first portion of the swingarm travel moves the shock very little but the last part of the swingarm travel moves the shock much more. This give the rider a smooth, comfortable ride over small bumps but the suspension becomes much stiffer when encountering large bumps.
