What is P2V conversion? Describe the process using VMM.
What will be an ideal response?
To move the operating systems and applications of existing physical computers to a private cloud, you perform a Physical to Virtual (P2V) conversion. This conversion permits the preservation of existing investments in operating systems and application development. To start the conversion process, click Convert physical server in the Actions pane of the VMM administrator console. The conversion wizard appears; the steps are similar to the steps taken to create a virtual machine. A VMM agent will be installed on the running virtual machine. The VMM agent completes a number of tasks, such as scanning the physical computer, returning the scanned information, providing a Volume Configuration page that permits volumes to be chosen for conversion, creating the virtual machine, and deploying the virtual machine to a host computer.
