What measures did Alexander take to try and create a unified empire?

What will be an ideal response?

Alexander tried to promote a unified culture under his reign in a number of ways. While he was the undisputed ruler, often ruthless when he needed to be, he was also interested in creating a sense of identity that superseded the individual Greek polis mentality. He did so by extracting troops from his newly conquered territories, encouraging troops to intermarry with local women, promoting religious tolerance, promoting third-wave Greek colonization (inland), adopting many Persian customs himself (including style of dress), and assuming titles from each area that left him a king, emperor, and pharaoh. He encouraged the building of libraries and sharing knowledge and customs.
