What will be an ideal response?
The vCenter Server system consists of a variety of services that are divided into two major components: the VMware Platform Services Controller and the vCenter Server. The VMware platform services consist of vCenter Single Sign On, the License service, the Lookup service, and VMware Certificate Authority. The vCenter services include the vCenter Server itself, the Web Client, an Inventory database service, the Auto Deploy service, and Syslog services. The Platform Services Controller can be either installed on the same machine as the vCenter Server, called the Embedded Platform Services Controller, or installed separately on a different system and referred to as the External Platform Services Controller.
