Explain how valve guide knurling restores proper valve guide clearance.
What will be an ideal response?
During the knurling procedure, a thread-type arbor is run through each valve guide. This threading pushes the steel inward where the threading wheel contacts the guide which in turn causes the surrounding metal to protrude outward making the guide diameter smaller. After knurling, the guide is reamed to the proper size for the engine.

If a technician uses a scan tool to open the EGR valve while the engine is at idle:
A. The engine will immediately idle rough. B. The technician may be able to see the results of the command using the scan tool. C. An EGR system DTC may set. D. Both A and B
If A and B are independent events, prove that the following pairs of events are independent: A° and B, A and B° and A° and B.

An iron?carbon steel, containing 0.5 percent carbon, has a microstructure consisting of 85 percent pearlite and 15 percent ferrite.
(a) Are these the amounts of the constituents that one would expect to find in the steel if it had been slowly cooled from the austenite region? (b) In a slowly cooled microstructure, pearlite normally has a 7 to 1 ratio of the widths of the ferrite and cementite lamellae. What would this ratio be in the present case?
