Describe how you would assess for your client’s “physical self”.

What will be an ideal response?

?How is this client presenting himself? How is he dressed, and how does he appear physically? Is his facial expression animated and lively, or sad and depressed looking? Are there obvious physical problems? Are there medical problems? Are there physical issues that should be checked out soon? When did this person last have a physical examination?
?Many clients have life difficulties that are directly or indirectly related to medical issues. You need to be fully aware of them, and you should be prepared to refer a client to a physician if there is any suggestion of something medical that should be checked out.
?There are physical issues besides medical problems about which you need to be thinking. Is there a drug or alcohol problem? You might make it part of your routine to ask every new client questions about possible substance abuse. And what about physical violence? Is this someone who is or has been abused, or who abuses?
