How is the urban landscape of East Asia, and particularly that of China, currently changing?
What will be an ideal response?
Because of continued population growth—notably in China—and internal migration, cities are expanding at a rapid rate. This is leading to both urban sprawl and higher levels of urban-based pollutions. Likewise, rapid urbanization has led to sizeable portions of cities to be razed for modern development. Only belatedly has China begun to incorporate greater efforts toward historical preservation in its urban development.
