Define nominal scale and provide an example.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: refers to a scale in which the researcher has assigned differences in observations or measurements to distinct categories. It is the least complex scale, one in which the fewest mathematical operations may be performed, statistical operations. Examples of nominal data are gender status (male or female) and ethnicity (African American, Asian, Caucasian, and so on). Nominal scale data, therefore, involve counts for each category.
