How did plant and animal fossils influence the theory of continental drift?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Similar plant and animal fossils found in both South America and Africa provided evidence that the two continents had at one time been connected together. This is especially true of the fossil plant Glossopteris, which had very large seeds, too large to be distributed by winds.
