Are American children physically fit? Why or why not?

What will be an ideal response?

Despite the American emphasis on physical fitness, most American children are not physically fit. One of the main reasons is the time spent watching television. Children who watch relatively little television have less body fat and are more physically fit than children who watch several hours of television a day. Physical fitness and muscular strength is developed by engaging in activities like running, brisk walking, swimming laps, bicycling, and jumping rope. Yet, schools and parents seem to focus on team sports like baseball and football, which are less likely to promote physical fitness.
