• Functionalist solution: strengthening relationships and family ties, not reducing or diminishing them through practices such as cohabitation or divorce.
• Conflict solution: we become aware of the true roots of oppression and do something about them.
• Symbolic Interactionist solution: problems in marriages may be reduced if people become aware of the different realities they have about marriage and family life. Through better communication with each other, family members can work toward making the home a more positive place in which to live.
