What would be the pros and cons of each piece of research for an organisation like Bentley, and more in general?
What will be an ideal response?
Based on the reflection done in relation to questions 1 and 2, it should be possible for
students to understand a research paradigm is as strong as the sum of its assumptions.
In the case of Robert, Bentley could gain an insight into the relationship between
Volkswagen AG (corporate image) and Bentley (brand image) using tried and tested pieces
of marketing and communication theory to set up hypotheses about what might happen.
As for Sarah, Bentley could learn about in-depth feelings held by a certain target
audience with regards to their interactions with the brand through social media (visual
platforms).
There isn’t quite right or wrong here, but students should understand that the process
chosen for their marketing research is eventually determining the validity and reliability of its
output.
