What will be an ideal response?
ANSWER: Siblings need information about the nature of the disability, social and emotional support,
affirmation of worth, heritability of the disability, acknowledgement of their own needs,
their questions answered, how to communicate with their sibling if needed, or how to
prepare for eventual death of their sibling.
Grandparents and others must be informed, have opportunities to express themselves, be
able to ask pertinent questions, and receive training tailored to their needs.
